Mission and Goals 2007-2008

Mission Statement
The Skyline High School PTSA supports the staff, students, and families at Skyline in ways that help students achieve academic and personal success both at Skyline and in their post-high school years. Skyline PTSA works closely with the Skyline administration and key partner organizations, including ASB, Boosters, Site Council, Issaquah PTSA Council, Issaquah Schools Foundation, and Volunteers for Issaquah Schools to provide meaningful programs, effective advocacy, and financial support to our school.
Goals for 2007-2008
- Develop a close partnership with Principal Lisa Hechtman and her staff via bi-monthly meetings between Presidents and Principal.
- Develop a Parent Education program at Skyline that helps reconnect parents with the school by appointing Chairs that will coordinate communications of Issaquah PTSA Council’s Parent Ed Network offerings as well as develop programs specific to Skyline.
- Appoint a Board sub-committee that will conduct a comprehensive PTSA program review to ensure that our PTSA resources are being deployed as powerfully as possible in support of our mission. Sub-committee will complete this Program Review for discussion with the Board in Jan-Feb 2008. Board-approved recommendations will go to the membership by Feb-Mar 2008 for adoption by the 2008–2009 school year.
- Appoint a Board sub-committee that will conduct a comprehensive review of how we communicate with our members and to the community to ensure we’re delivering useful, complete information about school and PTSA programs in the most timely, user-friendly way possible. Sub-committee will complete this Communications Review for discussion with the Board in Jan-Feb 2008. Board-approved recommendations will go to the membership by Feb 2008 for adoption by the 2008–2009 school year.
- Meet with ASB and Boosters leadership as well as key staff members by Nov 2007 to develop collaboration plans with these key groups.
- Apply for and receive two awards from the Washington State PTA in Feb 2008: Standards of Excellence and 100% Membership awards.
- Achieve 50% overall staff membership by Feb 2008.
